Another incident of consuming meat of a leopard after killing the big cat in Assam has come to light. This time the incident took place in a tea garden area at Kaliabor in Nagaon district.
As per information, a leopard was killed at Line No 14 in Shakmuthia tea garden in Kaliabor under Nagaon district on Sunday.
A group of anti-social elements had consumed the meat of the leopard after killing the big cat.
But receiving the information, the Jakhalabandha Police following an operation was able to recover the bones, skin and teeth of the leopard which was killed by the group.
The police were also able to arrest two persons involved in the killing of the leopard.
The duo has been identified as Lakshindar Santal and Prahlad Tanti.
On the other hand, four more persons involve in the killing of the animal are still on the run. The Jakhalabandha Police has continued massive operation in search of the duo.
Earlier, on December 1, 2017, a mob of nearly 100 people surrounded a leopard in a village in Assam.
The leopard, which strayed in the village from a nearby forest, killed a village elder and it was killed by the mob armed with sticks and sharp weapons. The mob chopped off the big cat and ate its meat.
The leopard also injured four villagers of the mob who surrounded it to kill in revenge. The villagers later were able to kill it. They also consumed the leopard’s meat as revenge.
