A woman sub-inspector (SI) of Tripura Police was attacked on her way to probe a domestic violence case at Bitarban area of Agartala on Sunday.
The woman SI identified as Purnima Das Sarkar of West Agartala Women Police Station, who was probing domestic violence case registered on the basis of an FIR lodged by one Purnima Khatun against her husband and in-laws on October 22.

In the FIR, Khatun alleged that her husband Suman Mia assaulted her mercilessly and kicked her out of the house few days back.
In the FIR, Khantun also alleged that her young son has been taken away by her husband and in-laws forcibly after she lodged a complaint in the police station.
According to woman SI Purnima Das Sarkar, Khatun’s mother-in-law Kalabati Bibi, father-in-law Hasim Mia allegedly attacked her when she was approaching their house for investigation into the case.

The woman also allegedly tore the clothes of the policemen.
After the locals came out, the two accused managed to flee from the spot and tried to defend them.
The woman SI lodged an FIR against the two accused in this connection.
However, the two accused are absconding till filing this report.
