The Tripura government will review the service quality of the employees who crossed the age of 50 or completed the 30 years of service.

Already the process has been started in the state Education department.

The department heads has been ordered to review the periodical service records in respect of the employees working under their jurisdiction or administrative control.

The heads of the institutions also directed to review early service records.

The circular stated those employees and teachers who have crossed the age of 50 years or completed 30 years of service should submit medical fitness certificate latest by December 31 next without fail.

Thereafter the proposed periodical review of performance of the said categories of employees will be completed within the stipulated period.

This circular created quite a sensation and resentment among the teachers and employees in the Education department.

The teachers while refusing to be named said the government is trying to implement voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) in the State.

If it is not right then what is the necessity to review the service of those who are above 50 years or have completed 30 years of service.

Asim Pal, leader of Tripura Government Teachers Association (TGTA) said the employees and teachers got the right of service till 60 years after a long struggle.

Now the BJP-led State Government is trying to curtail the rights of the employees.

He also said the State Government is trying to reduce the number of employees, that’s why they are doing so.
