Along with the rest of the nation, Tripura also celebrated 73rd Independence Day on Thursday.

Chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb unfurled the national flag at Assam Rifles Ground in the morning.

Other ministers and top officials also unfurled national flags at different parts of the State.

Governor Ramesh Bais attended the Independence Day programme at Post office Chowmuhani.

All the organizations, clubs, schools, collages and government offices across the State celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervour and gaiety.

At the Assam Rifles ground, after hoisting the national tricolour, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb inspected the parade and took salute of security forces and parading jawans.

On the occasion of Independence Day, the chief minister presented various Police medals to police officials for their dedicated service to the nation.

In his speech, chief minister Biplab Deb expressed his government road-map to develop the State.

Deb also gave a detailed outlay of the achievements of his government during the last 17 months.

In his speech, Deb appreciated Narendra Modi-led central Government for their support to Tripura.

“Tripura is implementing all the schemes of the Central Government successfully. And the Central Government is supporting us,” he said.

The chief minister also said the State Government has a plan to make Tripura as an IT-Hub.

He said that the government has also identified the land for the IT-Hub.

He claimed many people will get job there.

In his speech, Deb also stressed on connectivity development for the State, referring HIRA model.

Where is HIRA’s I for I-ways (Digital ways), H for High way, R for Railway connectivity and A for Air connectivity, he said.

Earlier, chief minister Deb unfurled the national flag at his official residence in Agartala and then at the Assam Rifles ground.

Left front Tripura convener Bijan Dhar also hoisted the national flag and their party flag at the CPI-M headquarter on Thursday to mark 73rd Independence Day.

In Congress Bhavan president Pradyot Kishore hoisted national flag.

In BJP state office Biplab Kumar Deb hoisted national flag.
