Like the previous eight years, this time also ‘Crystal Vision’ of Mangaldai in Assam organized a mobile blood donation camp on Wednesday.

Crystal Vision, a leading local non-government organization in association with Darrang district Health Department, Darrang district administration and Assam State Blood Transfusion Council organized the mobile blood donation camp cum awareness programme in connection with the celebration of 73rd Independence Day.

It witnessed tremendous enthusiasm from voluntary donors of all section of the society cutting across the barriers of age, gender and profession amidst a festive environment inside the highly sophisticated blood collection bus of the National Aids Control Organisation (NACO).

The mobile camp which began at Mangaldai with the registration of thirty donors subsequently shifted to Dipila, at the south west corner of the district where another camp was held with the help local NGO, Inner Vision.

This camp also earned sound response as more than 35 donors donated blood to mark a tribute to the supreme sacrifice of our freedom fighters.

Altogether 65 voluntary donors including NGO members, traders, teachers, police personnel, drivers and other officials, women, students, etc donated blood and shared their unique experience of blood donation.

Earlier deputy commissioner, Darrang Ghanshyam Dass ceremonially launched the programme in the Mangaldoi District Library in presence of several prominent persons including additional deputy commissioners Kulen Sarma and Navajyoti Oja and joint director of Health Services Dr Ruplal Nunisa.

Sub divisional medical and health officer, Dr Nirmal Kr Beriya, in charge medical officer of Mangaldai Blood Bank Dr Daud Ali, divisional forest officer, Mangaldai Wildlife Division, Ramesh Ch Gogoi and prominent entrepreneur Rajiv Kr Deka were also present on the occasion.

The inauguration of blood donation camp was followed by an awareness meeting and mass signature campaign against use of drugs and tobacco and street plays.
