Tripura Tipra Motha Rally

Agartala: Tipra Motha Party founder, Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Tuesday alleged that โ€œvarious obstaclesโ€ were being created ahead of his partyโ€™s mass rally on November 27 in Agartala but stressed that resource constraints would not deter the movement as long as people remained united and peaceful.

Addressing party workers and supporters, Pradyot said Tipra Motha struggled to obtain permission for the rally at Swami Vivekananda Maidan despite its alliance with the BJP.

โ€œThis rally was supposed to take place on November 7. We were denied permission. Again on November 15, we were denied. Now finally we have received permission,โ€ he said.

He expressed surprise that opposition parties like the CPI(M) and Congress were granted permission for their programmes โ€œmore easilyโ€ despite being in the opposition.

Pradyot also alleged difficulties in arranging transportation for supporters from different parts of Tripura. โ€œWe are being denied transport mediums. Many people think we shall bow down. We may have resource constraints, but we have enough courage,โ€ he said.

He said the rally aims to send a message of unity from the Northeast and will not endorse any โ€œDelhi-based leader.โ€ โ€œLeaders from across the Northeast are coming to stand with usโ€ฆ The entire Northeast will unite on one platform. We want to secure the future of our future generations,โ€ he added.

Calling November 27 a โ€œhistoric and emotionalโ€ date, Pradyot recalled that it coincides with his fatherโ€™s funeral and his own coronation, and said he was under โ€œimmense pressureโ€ to remain silent.

โ€œWe will come peacefully and return peacefully. Within 1 pm the rally will be completed. No violence should take place anywhere in the state,โ€ he said, urging people to treat the rally as an opportunity that โ€œmay not come againโ€ to show unity and resolve.
