Lok Sabha MP from Tripura – Pratima Bhoumik, on Thursday, took charge as union minister of state for social justice and empowerment. 

Pratima Bhoumik took to social media and said, “Took charge as MoS, Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry today. Once again from the core of my heart, I extend my gratitude to Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji for entrusting me this responsibility.”

Before taking charge as a union minister, Bhoumik offered tributes to BJP ideologues Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Shyama Prasad Mookerjee at the party headquarters in New Delhi. 

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Pratima Bhoumik won from the West Tripura constituency by a huge margin of 3 lakh 5 thousand 689 votes.  

Notably, Pratima Bhoumik is the first permanent resident from Tripura to be appointed as a union minister.
