Pratima Bhowmik, the Lok Sabha MP from Tripura West parliamentary constituency, donated Rs 1,00,000 from her first month’s salary for Assam flood relief.
Bhowmik is also the General Secretary of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Tripura.
“Pratima Didi donated Rs 100,000 from her first month’s salary for Assam flood relief,” said Tripura BJP leader Victor Shome.
“She handed over the amount to an Assam government official in New Delhi on Tuesday,” Shome added.
Several politicians, celebrities, NGOs etc have come forward to stand by with Assam at this time of crisis and have donated for the welfare of the Assam flood victims.
Different NGOs and organisations have also donated relief materials including food, water, clothes, etc to the flood victims.
In one of the worst floods, at least 68 people have died in Assam.
The floods also claimed the lives of 187 animals in Kaziranga National Park (KNP) including 15 one-horned rhinos, one elephant and over hundred hog deer.
