The Tripura government on Friday extended the ongoing night curfew till May 31 in the Agartala Municipal Corporation areas of West Tripura district.

The Tripura chief secretary Manoj Kumar had issued a notification mentioning the imposition of night curfew from April 22 till April 30.

According to the official statement of the state health department, 166 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

There are 1,020 active cases in the state and most of them are reportedly residents of the Agartala municipal area.

However, medical and other emergency services and persons involved in providing such services like health, police, security, power supply, drinking water supply, media etc will be exempted from the curfew guidelines.

As per the order, restrictions have been imposed on holding various public meetings and rallies

. A total of 200 people can gather outdoors and a maximum of 100 people can gather in the hall or community center.

The cinema halls will be allowed to operate with a maximum of 50 per cent of the sitting capacity.

While 100 people will be allowed to attend the wedding or social event, only 20 people will be allowed to attend the funerals.

The government also closed all educational institutions comprising schools, colleges, and universities.

The ongoing examinations in universities have also been suspended.

Moreover, hostels will remain closed from May 1.

However, the examinations conducted by TBSE will take place as per scheduled.
