Tripura forest minister Mebar Kumar Jamatia has tested positive for COVID19 on Wednesday.
The news has been confirmed by Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb on his Twitter handle.

Jamatia is Tripura’s first minister to have infected by COVID19.
However, a total of 7 MLAs from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) have tested positive for the virus in the state so far.
The legislators who have tested positive are BJP MLAs Rampada Jamatia, Mimi Majumder, Ashish Saha, Kalyani Roy, Sudhangshu Das and IPFT MLAs Dhananjay Tripura and Brishketu Debbarma.
All the MLAs have recovered from the disease and they are fine now.
Minister Mebar Kumar Jamatia recently participated in various programmes of his party.
Jamatia represents Ramchandra Ghat Assembly constituency in Khowai district.
He is also the general secretary of IPFT.
