Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has sought exemption of frisking at Indian airports for a spiritual leader in the lines of His Holiness Dalai Lama.

Deb has written letters to union home minister Rajnath Singh and civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhu seeking their interventions to accord similar privilege like Dalai Lama to Sree Sree Ashok Chakraborty, a revered leader of Satsang.

“Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra is worshipped as prophet of the age by about five crore devotees throughout the country and abroad. His ideology and spiritual preaching have immensely influenced a very large number of devotees and ‘Satsang’ – a divine platform which has prospered under his aegis and attracted people from all faith and nationality,” said Deb in his letter sent to Singh.

“Presently, Sree Sree Ashok Chakraborty who is the most deserving successor of Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra is adored by devotees. He is 86 years old and visits different parts of the country for propagating the teachings of Satsang,” Deb said in his letter.

“One of the requests made by the devotees of Satsang is to exempt the Acharyadev, Sree Sree Dada (Ashok Chakraborty) from frisking at all airports in the country. Similar exemption is already accorded to His Holiness Dalai Lama. Copy of the request made by Satsang is enclosed,” Deb said in the letter.

Deb further mentioned in the letter that he had already taken up the matter with Suresh Prabhu, union minister for civil aviation. “I need your intervention for the purpose.” Deb stated.
