Tripura adjudged best in implementation of PMAY-U scheme

Tripura has been declared the best-performing state in regards to the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) scheme in the Northeast and hilly states category.

The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has bagged the award in the “best performing municipal corporation” category and Belonia has been declared as the “best performing municipal council”.

Hardeep Singh Puri, Union minister of housing and urban affairs in a letter to Tripura chief minister, Biplab Kumar Deb announced the award.

The chief minister uploaded the particular letter on his social media page on Sunday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually present the award to Biplab Deb in a programme on January 1.

Modi along with Biplab Deb will also lay the foundation stone for the Light House Project on the occasion.

Under the light House Project, 1000 ready to live in flats will be delivered to people in lower-income groups.

The ministry of housing and urban affairs has introduced a technology innovation grant of Rs. 4 lakhs per house, which is over and above the existing grant of Rs. 1.5 lakh per house under the PMAY-U scheme.

Globally proven six innovative technologies have been selected for constructing six Light House Projects (LHPs) with allied infrastructure in Agartala in Tripura, Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Rajkot in Gujarat, Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Ranchi in Jharkhand and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.

The Mission has been designed to achieve the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘housing for all by 2022’ when the country would celebrate its 75th year of independence.
