The police have arrested a person from Bangalore for spreading rumors against Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and his wife Niti Deb on social media.
The accused, Alkas Uddin is a resident of the Kadamtala Kalagang in the Dharmanagar subdivision in Tripura.

SP of North district police, Bhanupada Chakraborty said, “We arrested Alkas Uddin from Bangalore for spreading rumors on social media against state chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and his wife Niti Deb.”

Abdul Hanif, president of Kadamtala BJP Minority Front had filed a case against the accused at the Kadamtala Police Station after he came upon an objectionable matter against the CM and his wife posted by the latter on social media.

Based on the complaint filed, a team of North district police arrested him from Bangalore and brought him to Kadamtala Police Station on Thursday.
He was produced before the Dharmanagar district sessions court on Friday morning.
