The police have picked up a drug dealer from the Paschim Chandrapur village along the Indo-Bangla international border in North Tripura district.

The accused has been identified as Taj Uddin.

Based on specific information, the police in collaboration with Border Security Force (BSF) jawans raided Taj Uddin’s house in Paschim Chandrapur village late in the night on Saturday.

During the raid, the team seized 16 mobile phones, heroin and cash, said North Tripura superintendent of police Bhanupad Chakraborty.

The police had also raided Taj Uddin’s brother’s house in the same locality a year ago and seized drugs worth crores from him.

A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and further investigations are underway.
