BJP workers and dissident MLAs of the ruling BJP government gathered in Agartala on Sunday and shouted slogans against Tripura chief minister, Biplab Kumar Deb.

Shouting slogans, “Biplab Hatao, BJP Bachao” these MLAs and workers demanded a change in the state leadership.

They also tried to block the vehicle of state BJP in-charge, Vinod Sonkar, demanding the chief minister’s removal.

Sonkar who had arrived in the state on Saturday, was to meet the dissident MLAs and party workers in the guest house on Saturday.

He assured that he will speak with them and submit a detailed report to the BJP central leadership.

The rebel group of the MLAs had reportedly gathered in the guest house early on Sunday morning and was soon joined by MLAs and party workers who supported present state leadership.

A quarrel soon ensued between the two groups of MLAs, with each group trading accusations at the other.

The police finally arrived and brought the situation under control.

A section of BJP MLAs and senior leaders are not satisfied with the present state leadership, especially Biplab Kumar Deb.

They had gone to New Delhi on October to meet party national president JP Nadda and other top leaders to express their dissatisfaction with the state government’s state present state of affairs.

A few of these MLAs and party leaders also met North-East Democratic Alliance chairman, Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati to discuss the issue.

The dissident MLAs are not happy with the decisions of the chief minister and a few of them have openly criticized him and the state government on social media.
