Opposition leaders in Tripura on Wednesday raised questions over chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb misusing government money to celebrate his birthday.

The Tripura chief minister reportedly celebrated his 49th birthday on Wednesday by offering prayers at the temple of Goddess Tripurasundari in Udaipur.

He had reportedly flown to Udaipur with his wife in a helicopter, although the temple is situated at a small distance of 52 kilometers from Agartala.

Opposition leaders questioned as to why the chief minister had flown to Udaipur in a helicopter, misusing government money for personal reasons.

No other chief minister of the state had celebrated their birthdays in such a manner, said opposition leaders.

BJP party workers and supporters kept no stone unturned to celebrate Deb’s birthday.

While some distributed food among people, some organized a blood donation camps in Agartala.

Even in Udaipur, party members and supporters could be seen standing on the roadside with balloons in their hands to welcome the leader on his birthday.
