The Union Health Ministry has alerted the Tripura Government in regards to the new strain of coronavirus.
The Union Health Ministry has dispatched fresh Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to the Tripura Government relating to the new coronavirus variant.
According to the fresh SOPs, the Tripura Government will arrange COVID-19 tests for all those who came to State from the United Kingdom between November 25 to December 23.
The Tripura Government has been directed by the Health Ministry to observe the health condition of the UK returnees and report back.
Meanwhile, concerns over COVID-19 situation in Tripura has also risen following the death of 3 more persons in the last 24 hours.
With 3 fresh COVID-19 related deaths, the State’s death tally has now risen to 380.
Moreover, the COVID-19 mortality rate has also surged with 3 more deaths.
According to Tripura Health Department, the COVID-19 mortality rate in the State now stands at 1.15 percent.
On the other hand, 13 fresh COVID-19 cases have been detected in Tripura.
These 13 fresh cases were detected after conducting tests of 1460 samples.
The total COVID-19 caseload in Tripura has mounted to 33,018 with the detection of 13 fresh cases.
However, of the total 33,018 cases, only 192 are active cases.
18 persons were reported to have been recovered from COVID-19 in Tripura in the last 24 hours.
So far, 32,590 persons have been discharged from different hospitals and COVID Care Centres across the State after having recovered from the deadly virus.
The COVID-19 recovery rate in Tripura now stands at 98.27 percent.
Tripura’s positivity rate stands at 5.74 percent.

Meanwhile, the Tripura Government has claimed the COVID-19 situation in the State has improved in the past couple of weeks with the number of cases detected daily declining and recovery rate showing an upward trend.
However, the opposition parties in the State, countering the claim of the Government, alleged that the number of cases detected daily have decreased because the number of tests conducted daily has also declined.
