Overqualified candidates with higher degrees like PhD, MTech, MCA, BCA, MBA etc applied and sat at the examination for the Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) post in Tripura.
The examination for the GRS post was recently held in the state by the Rural Development Department.
In the job advertisement, the essential qualification for the post was mentioned as minimum madhyamik / matriculation / 10th class examination pass from a recognized board.
There is a raging controversy in Tripura over the actual number of unemployed persons registered with the employment exchanges.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb claimed that the number of unemployed youth in Tripura is 2 lakhs 57 thousand.
The CM before the elections claimed that Tripura had 7.5 lakh unemployed youths.
“During the 18 months rule of the BJP government in Tripura, over 5 lakhs unemployed youths have either found employment or launched their own business,” Deb had further said.
A source from the department informed that over a thousand applications were received from candidates with higher degrees.
