The severely smashed body of a BJP leader was recovered in Tripura on Friday morning from near a bridge in Briddhinagar of old Agartala in West Tripura district.
Identified as Tapan Sinha, the face and the head of the deceased was badly smashed.
The deceased hails from Briddhinagar in Ranirbazar area and the body was spotted on Friday morning.
The shoes of the deceased were found from a petrol pump nearby at a distance of around 700 metres.
Apart from being a popular leader himself, Sinha’s wife Shiuli Sinha is also the chairman of the old Agartala Panchayat Samiti.
The body was later sent for post mortem to GB Hospital and the police are investigating the case.
Some say it was a hit-and-run case, while a few claims it to be a murder.
The exact cause of death could only be ascertained after the post mortem is done.
