In yet another incident of attack on medical practitioners in the region, a doctor of a Government hospital in Tripura was allegedly assaulted by a group of people in Gomti district.
The doctor – Dr Partha Talapatra working in the Natun Bazar Rural Hospital in Gomoti District was allegedly assaulted by the attendants of a patient he was attending, died after being referred to the Gomti district hospital.
Following the death of the patient – Pradip Das, his family member attacked Dr Partha Talapatra and Lalmohan Banik, a health worker and physically assaulted them.
The victim doctor – Dr Partha Talapatra has lodged an FIR at the Natun Bazar Police Station in regards to the incident.
However, no arrest has been made so far by the police in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, All Tripura Government Doctors’ Association (ATGDA) has condemned the assault on a on-duty doctor by miscreants.
“We have faith in the Country’s law and believe that the police will arrest the persons involved in the case at the earliest,” the ATGDA said.
This is not the first incident of assault on a doctor in Tripura.
Earlier, several cases of assault on doctors have been reported from the State, with the latest being reported on December 3.
On December 3, a doctor was assaulted in a government hospital on December 3 at Khowai District in Tripura.
