The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Tripura University, Prof V K Dharurkar on Wednesday called for greater cultural ties between the Northeast and rest of the country.
Dharurkar said that cultural exchange was more important than economic equality.
Prof Dharurkar said this while giving a special lecture on ‘Contemporary Trend of Indian Media’ at Agartala Press Club on Wednesday.
Vivekananda is now more important than Karl Marx, the German philosopher and revolutionary socialist who authored ‘Communist Manifesto’ and ‘Das Kapital’ alongwith several other anti-capitalist works which went on to form ‘Marxism’ – the materialist philosophy of equality.
The Vice Chancellor also asserted his commitment to develop Tripura University into an A-grade university within next five years of his tenure as its Vice Chancellor.
He also called upon the media to cultivate nationalism and perform in transforming democracy for lives.
He also said that the fourth estate can made significant contribution in nation building.
