LEADS index is developed by the commerce and industry ministry along with Deloitte to establish the baseline of performance in the logistics sector based on the perception of users and stakeholders in the state level.

The index evaluates logistics efficiency of different states.

The index is based on nine parameters – availability of logistics infrastructure, quality of logistics infrastructure, quality of logistics services provided by the service providers, ease of arranging logistics at competitive rates, timeline of cargo delivery, ease of track and trace, safety/ security of cargo movement, state facilitation and coordination and efficiency of regulatory process.

The union commerce and industry minister chaired a meeting of the Board of Trade during the inaugural session the LEADS Index 2019 where the index report was released by union commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal recently.

Different stakeholders attend the meeting.

From Tripura, the principal secretary to industry and commerce Sashi Ranjan Kumar attended the meeting.

In the meeting, Kumar highlighted various important issues of Tripura related to industry and commerce.

Kumar also emphasised on developing connectivity between Tripura and Bangladesh for the sake of industry.
