Tripura CM Biplab Deb with wife Niti Deb

A local court on Monday has sent an arrested teacher of the Tripura state government school in Agartala to three days police remand for interrogation in connection to a case related to sharing a Facebook post claiming that chief minister Biplab Deb’s wife had filed for divorce.

The Tripura Police last evening arrested the accused teacher, one Saikat Talapatra from the MBB airport while he was allegedly trying to flee to Kolkata by an Indian Airlines flight after realizing the consequence of derogatory Facebook posts with sexual colours intended towards the chief minister and his wife Niti Deb.

Bidyut Sutradhar, public prosecutor said that though police other than a plea to the court for blocking of Facebook ID of Saikat Talaptra has also requested for his five days police remand but hearing everything the court has granted three days remand.

Talaptra will be again produced in the court on May 1.

In connection to this a police constable Jamal Hussein, working as personal guard of CPI-M MLA Islam Uddin was arrested on the same charge in northern Tripura but was later released against bail from the court.

However, Hussein was suspended from his post and a departmental inquiry has been ordered against him for sharing Facebook post against the chief minister who also holds the Home portfolio.

Anupam Paul, the person whose Facebook post they shared, was booked on Friday and remains on the run. Paul was booked for defamation and criminal conspiracy after he was found allegedly running a fake campaign on social media about the divorce suit.

Meantime, Niti Deb, the Chief Minister’s wife who after few days stay at Delhi returned with him in the same flight while speaking to reporters at the MBB airport denied the rumorus of the divorce and said all these were to disturb Biplab Deb who is honesty working day and night to make Tripura in to a model state.

According to her the path of truth and honesty is full of hurdles but it cannot divert Deb from his target.
