Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb is often caught on the wrong foot because of his hilarious words of wisdom. Again he has stirred a storm because of his ‘perception’ on Political Science.
Biplab Kumar Deb recently visited a school in Amarpur subdivision, and made a comical statement on Political Science, which has now stirred a storm on social media platforms.
At the Chelakham High School at Chelagang in Amarpur, the students and teachers requested the chief minister for a Political Science teacher.
But, Biplab Kumar Deb was quick to turn down the request. “What is the need for a Political Science teacher as you have History and Geography teachers?” he said.
Substantiating his theory, Deb said subject like Mathematics may need a specialist teacher, and not Political Science. “Political Science is an easy blend of History and Geography,” he maintained.
Pointing at the members of the local Panchayat, the chief minister said, “They are all politicians. They are the ones who can teach you Political Science.”
Students and teachers in Amarpur were flabbergasted with the chief minister’s wisdom on Political Science.
The students and teachers know that Political Science is a social science which deals with systems of governance, and the analysis of political activities, political thoughts, associated constitutions and political behaviour.
This is not the first time that Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb stirred storm on social media because of his hilarious words of wisdom.
He is a politician with no previous experience to hold a constitutional office. During the last few months, he has stoked an array of controversies through his speeches.
Once he wanted every family in Tripura to rear ducks because “when ducks swim in water, the oxygen level automatically increases in the water body.”
Deb had said his government was planning to distribute 50,000 ducklings to villagers whose homes are near water bodies.
He had made a fool of himself while addressing a Civil Services Day function in Agartala. Deb had said after pursuing mechanical engineering one should not go for Civil Services.
Instead, only Civil Engineers should join Civil Services as they have the knowledge and experience to help build administration and society, he had said.
While speaking on the Digital India Mission, Biplab Kumar Deb had also said India has been using internet technology since the epic era.
He had said during the Kurukshetra battle (in Mahabharata), Sanjay was could narrate what was happening in the battlefield to Dhritarashtra because of the internet connectivity. Even satellite also existed during that period, Deb had said.
The Tripura chief minister was criticized when he had said Diana Hayden was not worthy of the Miss World crown.
Biplab Kumar Deb’s message to educated unemployed youths was also hilarious. He had said instead of running after political parties youths should set up a paan shop.
