The XIX Eimi Meet 2019, a meet of tribal students belonging to many tribes studying in Manipur University, was held at the well-decorated Tribal Research Institute auditorium in Imphal on Saturday.
The tribes include Vaiphei, Chiru, Simte,Thadou, Hmar, Kom, Zou, Mizo, Paite, Gangte, Chin, Koireng, Chothe and Lushai.

The meet, held under the theme ‘Service before self’, was organised by Manipur University-Eimi Welfare Society.
Principal Secretary (health and family welfare) Vumlunmang Vualnam of Manipur government attended the meet as chief guest while Kakching deputy commissioner Dr Neilenthang Telien and additional commissioner of income tax Ng Joseph Gangte were the guests of honour.
David K Zote, registrar of Manipur University, presided over the colourful meet.

Sharing two of his quick thoughts while delivering his speech during the event, Principal Secretary (health and family welfare) Vumlunmang appealed to the students to open up their eyes and ears as opportunities is quite large in the present world.
He also suggested the students to aim high in pursuing their academic and professional careers for excellence.
Deputy commissioner Dr Neilenthang of Kakching district also spoke on the occasion.
More than 40 tribal students belonging to the different communities were honoured by giving certificates and mementoes for their success in both academic and professional careers during the day’s meet.
The dignitaries present during the meet distributed certificates and mementos to the talented students for clearing NET examinations under UGC and other achievements such as PhD.
The meet was marked by a number of cultural and dances dance and musical presentation and performances.
