Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday allocated the portfolios to the ministers of his new Cabinet.

While many of the ministers in the Cabinet of his second term have been dropped by Modi, the ministries of several others have been reshuffled.

From Northeast India, Modi inducted three new ministers in his Cabinet.

The three new ministers inducted into his Cabinet include former Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Tripura MP Pratima Bhoumik and Manipur MP Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.

While Union minister Rameswar Teli from Assam has retained his berth in Modi ministry, Union minister of state (independent charge) Kiren Rijiju has been promoted to the Cabinet rank.

Sarbananda Sonowal, who served as MoS for sports from 2014-2016 in the first term of Modi ministry, has been allocated the Cabinet portfolios of ports, shipping, waterway and AYUSH while Kiren Rijiju has been made law & justice minister.

Inner Manipur MP Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh has been made minister of state for external affairs and education while West Tripura MP Pratima Bhoumik has been made MoS for social justice and empowerment.

Union minister of state Rameswar Teli has been allocated petroleum & natural gas and labour & employment.

Prime Minister Modi keeps with him Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions; Department of Atomic Energy; Department of Space; All important policy issues; and all other portfolios not allocated to any Minister.
