The two-day Seventh Session (Part V) of the Ninth Assembly of Sikkim Legislative Assembly has concluded with the passing of the Third Supplementary Demands for Grants 2018-19.

The bill on Demands for Grants was presented in the House by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, who is also the Minister-in-Charge of Finance Revenue & Expenditure Department, Government of Sikkim, on the first day of the Session on Wednesday.

The House also passed the Sikkim Appropriation Bill, Bill No. 26 of 2018 for the Third Supplementary Demands for Grants for the financial year 2018-19. The Bill was introduced in the House by the Chief Minister.

During the Legislative Business, the Sikkim Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, Bill No. 27 of 2018 was passed by the House. The Bill was presented by RB Subba, Minister-in-Charge of Law, Legal, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Department, Government of Sikkim, on December 19.

The CM also presented the Annual Technical Inspection CAG Report on Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies for the year ended 31st March, 2017. Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly, KN Rai presented the Annual Report of the Government Departments and Compendium of Regulations of Sikkim State Electricity Regulatory Commission.

In his valedictory remarks, the CM, also the Leader of the House, mentioned that the Supplementary Demands for Grants passed by the House would fulfill the demands and aspirations of the people of Sikkim. He said that the Assembly session was convened in public interest and expressed his gratitude to the Members of the House for passing the Supplementary Demands for Grants.

The Leader of the House informed that budget has been allocated for the implementation of public welfare programmes such as the ‘One Family One Job’ Scheme which would provide employment to about twenty thousand educated unemployed youth of the State. He further informed that all formalities would be completed by the end of December 2018 and the scheme would roll out immediately.

He also mentioned the allocation of budget for the establishment of Press Club of Sikkim Bhawan, and other programmes to fulfill the requirements of the people of Sikkim.

The Leader of the House concluded his address by extending New Year and Festival greetings to the people of Sikkim.

The Speaker, in his valedictory address, thanked the Leader of the House for his guidance in making the Session successful. He also thanked and congratulated the Members of the House for the passing of the Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2018-19.

He stated that the Demands for Grants passed by the House would help fulfill the economic demands of the State and propel the State towards further development.
