Nagaland spent Rs. 3,750.05 cr on employee salaries, reveals CAG report

The report stated that expenditures in the salaries of employees has increased

Nagaland increased its expenditure on the salaries of its employees by Rs. 1,146.18 crore from Rs. 2,603.87 crore in 2012-13 to Rs. 3,750.05 crore in 2016-17 stated a report by Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG).

The report stated that expenditures in the salaries of employees has increased due to raises in various allowances and benefits.

The report for the year 2016-17 which was presented in the recent session of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA)  reveals that pension expenditure by the state had increased by Rs. 64.67 crore from Rs. 1,028.80 crore in 2015-16 to Rs. 1,093.47 crore in 2016-17.

Also, payment of interests increased by Rs. 184.86 crore from Rs. 450.64 crore in 2012-13 to Rs. 635.50 crore in 2016-17.

The report also gave a detailed analysis of charitable donations made by Nagaland to various institutions. The total charitable donations increased by Rs. 50.24 crore from Rs. 120.63 crore in 2015-16 to Rs. 170.87 crore in 2016-17, reports The Morung Express.

The report revealed that donations were made mostly in hospitals and less in educational institutions. However, no charitable donations was extended in respect of Special Area Programme and Municipal Councils and Panchayati Raj.
