Guwahati:ย Sikkimโ€™s longest and highest cable car has come up in the Himalayan stateโ€™s Namchi district and has recently become operational.

It stretches 3.5 kilometres and ascends from 1,800 metres to 3,500 metres above sea level.

Namchi serves as a major tourist destination of Sikkim and the new ropeway is likely to attract more tourists to the region during the upcoming festive season.

The ropeway with 18 cabins has a capacity of eight passengers each.

It offers a scenic journey from Dhapper to the Bhaleydhunga summit.

With a top speed of six metres per second, the ropeway ensures adventure for the tourists looking to experience the regionโ€™s beauty and panoramic views along the way.

The ropeway is currently operating between 8 am and 3 pm, and a ride in the cable car is priced at Rs 950 per person.

Namchi – situated at an altitude of 5,500ย feet aboveย sea levelย – is at a distance of 78 kilometres from the stateโ€™s capitalย Gangtok.
