Lok Sabha parliamentarian from Sikkim P D Rai has adopted Darap-Nambu GPU in West Sikkim under Sansad Aadarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) village adoption programme.
This was informed in an official press release from Geyzing on Thursday.
Area MLA Chandra Maya Subba, Deputy Commissioner (West) A B Karki, RMD additional secretary Sarika Pradhan and heads of line departments in West Sikkim along with local public were present at the programme.
In his address, the Lok Sabha MP stressed upon the aspect of human development for which he ‘positively thinks that youth are the essential elements with regards to it’.
He stressed that youths are the future of Sikkim and their contribution to the Sikkimese society is very influential, important and should not be overlooked.
The local legislator thanked and appreciated the efforts of the Lok Sabha MP for his initiative of adopting the village and taking into his cover for Aadarsh GPU.
The RMD additional secretary informed that this scheme is already taking a good shape in other two villages of Sikkim.
She gave examples of locals benefiting through this scheme.
Training programmes for people involved in hospitality business would be initiated.
Another significant development could be seen as introduction of banks and enhanced mobile communication networks.
Deputy Commissioner (West) A B Karki while speaking on the occasion emphasized on active public participation in order to make this scheme a success.
He further stated that he was looking forward to the success of the SAGY, the release added.
