Sikkim mountaineer and instructor at the Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Ecotourism (IHCAE), Shanti Rai has been selected for an expedition to Mt.Manirang.
This is a part of IMF women expedition to Mt.Manirang (6593 mtrs) located at Lahaul Spiti, in Himachal Pradesh.

The expedition will mark the silver jubilee celebration of Indo-Nepalese All Women Mt. Everest Expedition of 1993.
IHCAE director Col. DN Bhutia informed that Shanti has left for New Delhi to report at IMF for further preparation along with other team members.
The IMF women expedition team has proceeded to Himachal Pradesh on August 8 from Delhi to reach Lahaul Spiti, the base camp for launching of the expedition which is located next to the famous Dhankar Gompa.

Union minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore flagged off the expedition at IMF Complex New Delhi and wished them success.
IMF president Col. HS Chauhan appreciated Shanti Rai from Sikkim and other team members for working hard to get selected in this prestigious expedition which will provide more opportunities for scaling other peaks in future.
The team consists of 18 members, nine are senior veteran mountaineers and nine are new climbers. Shanti Rai is a senior mountaineer who has already been with seven expedition teams in the past.
