Tripura Congress president Pradyot Deb Burman has reportedly resigned from his post following his differences with party’s secretary in-charge of Northeastern states Luizinho Faleiro over NRC update.
Party insiders privy to the development said Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Deb Burman submitted his resignation to party interim president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Monday.
Sources said differences between Deb Burman and Faleiro were cropped up after the party Northeastern states in-charge asked the TPCC chief to withdraw his support to the petition filed in Supreme Court by INPT & Tripura People’s Front (TPF) over NRC update.
The scion of the erstwhile Manikya royal family had supported the demand of updating of the NRC in the state.
