A review meeting on implementation of GST was held in Kohima. Nagaland chief secretary and chairman of GST Pankaj Kumar held a review meeting of the state level monitoring cell for implementation of GST and PIMS at chief secretary’s conference hall in Kohima on Tuesday.

In his power point presentation at the meeting, Additional Commissioner of Taxes Mhathung Murry said as of now, only 23 departments have registered with GST and asked all the remaining departments to get registered at the earliest. During the meeting, various departments such as PHED, Forest, Health, Works & Housing, Agriculture and Police presented their respective PIMS reports.

Murry informed that the migration status of GST as on December 17, 2017 where the total PIDs issued and PID activated till date were 5605 and 3940 respectively whereas the total PID migrated was 3042. He said under the new registration within the same period, the migrated tax payers and new registration were 2992 and 3379 respectively.

The total number of tax payers under CE and ST above Rs 1.5 crore was 31 whereas below Rs 1.5 crore was 350, he stated and added that the total number of tax payers under VAT above Rs 1.5 crore was 188 whereas below Rs 1.5 crore was 2662 respectively.

Murry also informed that the department is all set to join the all India roll out from February 1, 2018.

Stating that the department is one among the first five states to pilot the implementation of ‘E-waybill”, he said refresher course on GST was held on December 18 and 19. He also mentioned some of the future plans to augment revenue by way of educating all the stakeholders of the benefits of timely GST compliance besides intensified TDS registration drive.

He further said ‘E-waybill’ would not be possible unless all the stakeholders participate with a concerted effort.

“It is very difficult to implement GST. Revenue may go up but it will always be below our expectation unless all the stakeholders involve,” he added.

Emphasizing on the importance of awareness, he mentioned the role of IPR and AIR is very important to disseminate the scope and advantages of GST in the state.
