The railway traffic, which was suspended on Wednesday in between Bordoloni and Dhemaji Railway Stations of Assam, resumed on Thursday.

The railway traffic in Bordoloni-Dhemaji section of Rangiya division was suspended as the railway embankment and approach bridge were damaged due to heavy rains and floods.

Restoration work was started by railway engineers immediately after the damage.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) authority has informed that the restoration work of the damaged railway embankment and the approach bridge in Dhemaji district has been completed.

After the completion of the restoration work, the normal running of train in Dhemaji district resumed on Thursday.

However, as a precautionary measure, the speed of trains in the Bordoloni-Dhemaji section of Rangiya division has been restricted at 10 km per hour.

Informing this on its Twitter handle, the NFR stated on Thursday: “After completion of restoration work in the approach of Bridge, railway traffic has been restored at restricted speed of 10kmph in Bordoloni Dhemaji section of Rangiya division. Normal running of trains has been resumed.”

The NFR on Wednesday had stated: “Heavy rainfall and floods near Dhemaji have damaged the railway embankment and approach of bridge number 693 between Dhemaji and Bordoloni stations.”

“Traffic remains suspended in this section. Railway engineers are at site and restoration efforts are on,” the NFR had tweeted on Wednesday.
