Activists of seven organizations running conducted flood relief camp at Bahir-Jonai in Dhemaji district on Sunday.
These organizations are engaged under ‘Uttar Purva Rama Krishna Vivekananda Bhaav Prasar Parishad’ and working in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

These organizations apart from Kalaguru Foundation and Jubeen Fans’ Club distributed items among flood affected families.
The Vivekananda Study Centre (VSC) of Naharlagun, Rama Krishna Sewa Somiti’s Harmuty, Bihpuria, Laluk, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji and Silapathar units joined the day-long relief programme at Malbhog village and distributed food grain, mosquito net, cloth, drinking water, baby food, candles and other essential items among the flood victims.
The Rama Krishna Sewa Samiti/Sanghas also organized free health check up camp at Rabha Kathoni Malbhog LP School and given treatment to more than 200 patients with medicine free of cost.
On the other hand, another flood relief camp was organized under the joint aegis of Kolaguru Foundation, Jubeen Fans’ Club and Bahir-Jonai Anchalik Student Union at the same location.
They distributed various items to more than 350 flood affected families covering Malbhog, Rabha Kathoni, Santipur and Sonowal Kathoni villages.
Jubeen’s wife Garima Borthakur, who was spearheading the relief camp said their club earlier conducted such programme at Borpeta and Golaghat and helped the flood hit people.
Overall flood situation at Jonai in easternmost Dhemaji districthas marginally improved after receding of the rivers.
The inmates of relief camps are returning to their native homes, but facing a lot of post flood problems.
Meanwhile, State’s water resources minister Keshab Mahanta, Jonai MLA Bhuban Pegu and members of District Legal Service Authority have visited flood-hit areas of the district and took stock of the problems faced by the affected families.
Moreover, volunteers of Jonai District Red Cross Society, NGOs like Indo Global Social Service Societies (IGSSS), Rural Volunteers Centre (RVC), North Star Society and Gramya Unnayan Monch are working at flood affected sites and they are constantly assessing and disseminating the situation to the authority concerned.
