Keeping in view the safety of passengers, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) authority has decided to suspend trains on this route.

The number of the approach bridge where the damage has occurred is 693.

Informing about the suspension of railway traffic on the route, the NFR on its Twitter handle on Wednesday stated: “Heavy rainfall and flood near Dhemaji have damaged the railway embankment and approach of bridge number 693 between Dhemaji and Bordoloni stations.”
Stating that railway engineers are at the damage site and are monitoring restoration efforts, the NFR further tweeted: “Traffic remains suspended in this section. Railway engineers are at site and restoration efforts are on.”

It may be mentioned that braving very heavy rains and surging flood waters, railway workers worked day and night to restore the damaged railway track between Jorai and Kamakhyaguri of Alipurduar division.
In another Tweet, the NFR authority has urged the people to cross railway tracks only at designated crossings and not to unauthorised railway crossing.
The NFR stated on its Twitter handle: “There are many unauthorised crossings on railway tracks which commuters often use to cross over. These are very very unsafe both for road users and the trains. Request all to cross railway tracks at designated crossings only. Your life is precious. Please take care.”
