A prompt action by the team of Gyalshing Police Station in West Sikkim has nabbed a thief within 24 hours. The thief identified as one Arun Chettri was caught on Wednesday morning by the police from Gyalshing with an amount of Rs 11,67,210.

It is informed that Gyalshing police station received a complaint from Keshav Chettri of Yuksom in West Sikkim on Tuesday night at around 8:45 pm that his cook Arun Chhetri, a resident of Darjeeling, West Bengal, has stolen a heavy amount of cash, which was kept in his residence for payments, and ran away from home.

By taking a prompt action, four teams were formed instantly and intensive search was started and one team was also sent to Darjeeling while the rest of the teams started nakabandi and searched all probable areas.

It has been informed that with an excellent coordination between all teams and intensive search was continued for whole night and finally the accused was nabbed from Gyalshing taxi stand on Tuesday morning with the cash while taking the ticket of a sharing cab to Siliguri.

It is informed that the accused accepted that due to heavy nakabandi and checking, he could not escape on Tuesday and spent his night at Pelling.
