The Dimapur Naga Students Union has asked the banks to maintain and provide quality ATM service in Dimapur.

The union, in a statement, said it made a survey of the ATM booths in and around Dimapur following complaints from several quarters.

During the survey, the majority of booths were found to be either out of service or out of cash while in the ATMs where there is the availability of cash, a queue of more than 20-30 persons is seen at a time, it said.

The students’ union said random queues outside the functional ATM booths without maintaining social distancing protocol is a total breach of SOP laid down by the government.

It pointed out that in Dimapur town, most of the booths of the banks concerned do not meet the requirements of SOP.

Expressing dismay at the poor services being provided to the consumers, the students’ union said the students are at the receiving end since the academic admissions have started.

Noting that ATM service charges are being levied on the customers, the union said it is the bounded duty of the banks to provide quality service to their customers.

The union hoped that the banks to take this appeal with utmost importance.
