Nagaland deputy chief minister Y Patton on Saturday announced award of Rs 10 lakh to any member of Lotha Catholic Union, who clears the UPSC examination.

Patton announced Rs 5 lakh to the members of Lotha Catholic Union, who come out successful in the Nagaland Public Service Commission during his tenure.

Patton became the deputy chief minister after the 2019 Assembly elections.

He made the announcement during the silver jubilee celebrations of Lotha Catholic Union at Don Bosco Parish in Wokha town.

Patton lauded the contribution of Catholic institutions for their painstaking efforts in raising the standards of education in the state.

He said many successful and influential personalities in the state are the products of the Catholic institutions.

“25 years is a glorious accomplishment and a time to give thanks to God for His blessings while taking time to forgive each other,” he stated.

On the occasion, Patton unveiled the jubilee monolith in the presence of Bishop of Kohima Diocese Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, and planted saplings to mark the event.
