The meeting, convened by the PAC, was held at the council office.

Deliberating on the pros and cons of the menace, the meeting resolved to seek the support of the administration and the state government to do away with the menace.

It also urged the newly-appointed Nagaland governor RN Ravi, who is also the Centre’s interlocutor for Naga peace talks, to hasten the dialogue process to bring an early solution to the Naga issue.

It was observed that the ceasefire has emboldened and become a license for the Naga political groups for illegal collection of money.

The PAC also demanded that the state government pass and enact stringent laws and acts to convict criminals.

It made the demand saying criminals and law breakers are found to be released immediately after being apprehended, demoralising the “executive forces”.

The committee asserted that it would not shy away from fighting the menace of illegal collection of money with the support of all tribal hohos, frontal organisations and mass-based civil societies.

Leaders of around 50 oraganisations, including Assamese, Kachari, Garo, Gorkha, Bengali, Bihari, Muslim and Malayalee attended the meeting.
