There have been conflicting reports of Dimapur district bandh called by some students’ bodies in Dimapur-based colleges on Wednesday.
While students’ bodies of 17 Dimapur-based colleges, which are affiliated to All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU), have called for indefinite Dimapur district bandh from 10 am, the Dimapur Govt. College Students’ Council said.
It also said a peaceful agitation will be held at City Tower from 10 am to 4 pm, which may be extended.
The government college students’ body said all shops will remain closed during the period.

The college students’ bodies called for the bandh in support of ANCSU’s five-point charter of demands.
Though names of Tetso College and Unity College figured in the press release ‘Total Bandh in Dimapur district by 19 colleges which are affiliated to ANCSU’, they requested removal of their names from the release.
On the other hand, the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) decided against any bandh under its jurisdiction and the Dimapur District Commerce and Industry (DCCI) directed all business establishments to remain open.
The DCCI warned that any business establishment not following the order will be dealt with strictly.
The trade body also urged the Dimapur district administration and police to make adequate security arrangements.
The DCCI said it would not allow flash bandh without prior notice and intimation. It also warned the student leaders that they will be held responsible for any unwarranted situation that may arise while opening the shops.
