Nagaland entrepreneur Elvis Kire is on a mission to make Kohima cleaner than Singapore.
The 43 year old man who lives in the Naga Bazar area of Kohima embarked on this mission at a time when Nagaland was ranked as the second most ‘unlivable’ city in India in the Ease of Living Index report released by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in August 2018.

Kire started this ambitious initiative of cleaning the streets about four months ago.
During the initial stage, he started cleaning litter from his home to his business establishment with the help of an umbrella cane.
Later, finding the cane to be inconvenient for cleaning the streets, he made a stick himself, but even then it wasn’t useful.

He then ordered a special litter pick-up tool which he uses now to pick up litter from any dirty street in Kohima voluntarily.
The man who owns a photo studio, a clothing market and a restaurant in the city has the full support of his family and friends on this noble mission.
Kire wishes to carry on this mission by himself throughout his life even if he doesn’t get help from the public and isn’t bothered by what anyone thinks.
He wants to create awareness about keeping the city litter-free.
