Mizoram has reported 232 new Covid19 positive cases in the last 24 hours.

According to the Covid19 bulletin, released by the directorate of information and public relations (DIPR), Mizoram, of the new cases, 57 were confirmed during RT-PCR tests in Zoram Medical College (ZMC).

The state has not reported any Covid19 death on Saturday morning.

The 175 other cases were confirmed during Rapid Antigen Tests in the last 24 hours.

As per the health bulletin, with the new cases, Mizoram Covid19 positive tally increased to 19,091.

Of the total Covid19 positive cases registered in Mizoram so far, 11,028 are male and 8,063 are female.

The number of discharged people, who were earlier infected by Covid19, increased to 14,554 on Saturday.

Mizoram currently has 4,448 Covid19 active cases.

So far, a total of 89 people have lost their lives due to Covid19 infections in Mizoram.

Of the active cases, Aizawl has 3490, Lunglei – 188, Siaha – 88, Champhai – 11, Kolasib – 252, Serchhip – 32, Lawngtlai – 307, Mamit – 19, Khawzawl – 13, Hnahthial – 35 and Saitual district currently has 13 active cases.

Meanwhile, 76% of people in the age group of 45 years and above have been vaccinated against Covid19 in Mizoram since January 16.

According to Dr. Eric Zomawia, mission director of National Health Mission (NHM), the vaccination drive is being expedited across the state amid the second wave of Covid19 pandemic.

“As many as 76% of people in the age group of 45 years and above have been administered the first dose of Covishield vaccine till Thursday against the national average of 43%,” Dr. Zomawia informed on Friday.

While the national average for vaccination to the age group of 18-44 years is 11%, Mizoram has already vaccinated 41% of this age group, the official said.

According to Zomawia, the number of population for 45 years and above in the state is estimated to be over 2.64 lakh and that of 18-44 age group is about 5.10 lakh.
