Mizoram: MNF levels serious corruption charges against CM, two ministers

Levelling serious corruption charges against the ruling Congress Government in Mizoram, the main opposition, Mizo National Front (MNF), on Tuesday alleged that the Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, his brother Lal Thanzara, who is the Health Minister of the State and Sports Minister Zodintluanga of ‘robbing the people’ of the State.

Interacting with media in Aizawl on Tuesday, MNF general secretary Zosangliana alleged that there rampant corruption has been taking place in the State during the last 10 years of the Congress regime.

He also called upon the people of the State that the only way to make Mizoram free of corruption was to reject the Congress in the ensuing Assembly elections.

Elaborating on the MNF charges, Zosangliana said the Chief Minister owned a plot of land in Kolkata, where he is constructing a multi-storeyed building worth Rs 4.623 crore, which is disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Quoting the CAG report presented to the Assembly in 2016, the MNF leader stated that the State Government lost Rs 11,808.77 crore during 2012-13 to 2014-15 fiscal because of non-deposit of minimum guaranteed revenue and administrative expenses by four lottery distributor

He also accused Lal Thanhawla of having a secret pact with distributors in the lottery scam.

The MNF leader also alleged that it was the people of the State who had suffered because of the corrupt practices of the Congress ministers.
