Mizoram was among the nine States which bagged the Poshan Abhiyaan Awards 2018-19 on Friday.
The State bagged the first position in both Overall Excellence in Implementation and ICDS CAS Implementation respectively.
The State was awarded with a cheque of Rs 1.5 crore for winning the first position in Overall Excellence in Implementation and a cheque of Rs 1 crore for bagging the first position in ICDS CAS Implementation category.
The two award categories fall under Excellence Awards at the State level.
Union Woman and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani presented the cheques to representatives of Mizoram government who were present at the award function held in New Delhi.
AAAA & LS Convergence Awards are conferred on Anganwadi Worker (AWW), Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA), Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM), Anganwadi Helper (AWH) and Lady Supervisor (LS) in recognition of their noble services.

A total 363 awards worth Rs. 22 crore were given to the best performers across the country.
The highlight of the awards this year is felicitation of Anganwadi/Asha workers.
For the first time, 237 Anganwadi frontline workers were rewarded for their exceptional service.
Poshan Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) is India’s flagship programme launched in March 2018 to improve nutritional status of children up to 6 years, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
