The BJP in Mizoram’s Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) has suffered another blow with its existing general secretary (in-charge of organisation) Prityrup Chakma joined the Mizo National Front (MNF) at Kamalanagar on Wednesday.
A short induction programme was held at the party’s office where Chakma was accorded a rousing welcome in the presence of CADC chief executive member (CEM) Rasik Mohan Chakma, councilors and party workers.
A prominent and active leader of Chakma district BJP, Prityrup Chakma contested the CADC election in 2018 on BJP ticket.
In his joining letter, Chakma stated that the MNF party is gaining a comprehensive development in the Chakma Autonomous District Council under the able leadership of CEM Rasik Mohan Chakma and his excellent team has inspired him to take the decision.
“The diminishing fortune of the BJP in Mizoram is becoming true from the fact that Prityrup Chakma has taken the decision to quit the BJP after successive failures in the accomplishment of various issues along with its lone BJP legislator Dr.Buddha Dhan Chakma,” MNF, Kamalnagar general secretary Durya Dhan Chakma said.
“The BJP has been fast losing ground in the Chakma Autonomous District Council as scores of high level party leaders have switched to the ruling MNF,” he said.
“Hundreds of BJP supporters are expected to follow suit in the near future,” the MNF leader said.
