The Assam Rifles troops seized 3 more trucks loaded with 240 bags of smuggled areca nuts in the Tlangsam-Ruantlang area in Mizoram.
The operation was carried out on Friday by the Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of the headquarters of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (East).
The seizure has been termed as another success achieve by Assam Rifles in its crusade against smuggling activities in Mizoram.

The operation was carried out by a team of Assam Rifles and Customs department at Zokhawthar in Champhai district on the basis of specific information.
Official sources said it is estimated that the approximate cost of the recovered areca nuts would be Rs 40,32,000.
The Customs Preventive Customs Preventive Force of Champhai district detained an individual in connection with the seizure of the contraband items.
Ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar border.
Assam Rifles, which is christened as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast’, has continued their efforts against the smuggling activities in Mizoram.
