In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, the Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles recovered 55 more bags of smuggled areca nuts at Ruantlang in Mizoram.
The Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles carried out the operation under the aegis of the headquarters of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (East) on Sunday jointly with the Customs department of Champhai district.
The operation was carried out on the basis of specific information.

The approximate cost of the recovered areca nuts is Rs 12,32,000, official sources said.
The Customs Preventive Customs Preventive Force of Champhai district seized the contraband items.
Ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar border.
Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast’, has continued their efforts against the smuggling activities in Mizoram.
