The Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles has recovered 954 bags of areca nuts from Khawbung in Mizoram’s Champhai district.
The contraband was seized during a joint operation conducted by a joint team of Assam Rifles personnel and officials of the Custom Preventive Force in Khawbung on Tuesday.

The seized areca nuts are worth Rs 2,14,52,280 in the market.

These bags containing areca nuts were reportedly being ferried in two trucks when they were seized.

Assam Rifles recently recovered 395 bags of areca nuts from Vaphai in Mizoram’s Champhai district.
They were worth over Rs 74,000 in the market.
