To facilitiate movement of people to Guwahati and Umroi Airport in view of the resumption of regular flights and trains, the Meghalaya government has arranged tourist taxis on payment basis.

As per the arrangements, the passengers, who want to leave the state either by air or by rail, will be dropped at Umroi Airport or Guwahati railway station against payment.

This was announced by secretary to the Meghalaya political department, C.V.D. Diengdoh on Sunday night.

Air service will resume on Monday while Mail/Express and Rajdhani trains have already started services or some will start from June 1.

Diengdoh said two passengers and a child below 12 years are allowed in each tourist taxi and four passengers are allowed in Sumos.

Social distancing norms should be adhered to, he said.

Passengers can contact the following numbers between 10 AM and 8 PM for
booking the taxi service.
